IRE MaddMatt

Organized by IRE

Going Home
Matt has been making incredible progress with physical rehab and recovery so far. They are letting him out by this Friday. He will be staying with his parents for a while. Great news!
Moving to Rehab Institute of St. Louis
Matt is being moved to the Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis as of 4:30pm today. Finally out of the hospital and into a physical rehab place = good news!

Visiting hours at 8am to 9pm. I will post when we know what room he will be in.

Address:
4455 Duncan Avenue
St. Louis, MO 63110
Update.
Matt is still in the hospital, and it sounds like his surgeries are done, at least for now. It was over a week of them, and he is hurting but thankful to be healing up.

So, we've nearly hit our goal. However, the goal was completely arbitrary, as we just had to throw a number on it. We talked about it, and decided to up the amount so that no one is excluded from donating.

Matt is going to need all the support we can give him, so if we can give him more than we expected, lets do it.

Thanks to everyone that has donated! The response has been great!

Also, please visit Matt if you can!
Jaw wiring
Just heard from Tom. He went to visit Matt, but he was back in surgery getting his jaw wired shut. The nurses said they didn't know if this was the last surgery or not.

He is also now a room or two over from 6465, but Tom couldn't remember the number. Just don't go barging in 6465 because it's not Matt.
A little update
Matt is going to have more surgery performed today. From what I understand they are gonna try and knock it all out today as long as Matt remains stable. They think if all goes well Matt could be out of the hospital within a week or two. So think of Matt today, send him some positive healing energy!

A bunch of IRE members rode to Barnes the other day for a visit.
Out of ICU!
Good news! Madd Matt is out of the ICU and into a normal hospital room.

Barnes Jewish Hospital
Room 6465
Visiting hours are 11am to 9 pm

He still has a long recovery, and lots to work through. So keep supporting him.

You can also send him a greeting card, which the hospital will print out and give to Matt for free. Go here to do that: http://www.barnesjewish.org/EGreeting
From Matt's Family
Thanks for all the good wishes. Matt asked us to send this message. He has two broken legs and a broken Right arm, 3 broken ribs, a brused lung, a broken jaw and several missing teeth. His R pelvis is also broken. They set & pinned his left leg and it is casted but everything else is pending. He is stable but is still in ICU. He is grateful for the emails & actually let out a few chuckles when they were read to him & is appreciative of this message thread. Thanks for all the prayers...and he is also thankful for your fundraising efforts!!!

We will keep you posted.

Gratefully, Matt's family
Update - not out of the weeds yet
We will keep posting updates as they come in. Bear with us if they're not super organized.

Right now Matt is in process for multiple surgeries. He is not out of the weeds yet. He has bone fragments they are trying to get out, but they cannot guarantee his bone fragments are all out. If not they can travel to his heart and that is not good. His right femur pretty messed up, and is the biggest concern (where the bone fragments are from).

It looks like the accident happened when someone ran a red light and hit him. Matt doesn't remember what happened, which is probably a good thing. We heard the driver attempted to leave, but it's not clear if they stopped or anyone got the info or what.
MaddMatt hit by car.
MaddMatt is in bad shape after getting hit on his way to work yesterday morning. He has a severely broken right femur, broken left leg, arm, jaw ribs, and a bleeding liver. We are all super bummed to hear this. At first it was reported he just broke his leg. This new news shows how severe his injuries are, and he is currently in the ICU.

MaddMatt is the guy who makes the calendars, stickers and banners for our rallys. He's a vital part of IRE and needs our most positive thoughts right now.

Please contribute, as he will definitely need some help with the medical bills. Thank you!
